sportfishing charters prince rupert queen charlotte islands with kaien sportfishing charters

Most saltwater sports fisherman dream of the chance to experience world-class spring salmon fishing on the Queen Charlotte Islands. Your host and captain, Colin Flaten, has made his living commercial fishing in and around these waters and has intimate knowledge of these areas.

In order to maximize the quality chinook runs, we break our season into two areas. We start in mid-May and fish until the end of August around the Queen Charlottes, returning for September to the Prince Rupert area to fish the huge Coho salmon.  The halibut fishing in both areas is great and everyone dreams of that 100 lb plus barn door.

When you arrive...

Your adventure starts either first thing in the morning or late afternoon depending on your travel arrangements, and usually consists heading out to the fishing grounds and pulling our crab traps for a fresh feed of crab. In the evening, enjoy the sunset as you relax on the back deck under the canopy while the captain anchors the boat in a protected cove. Anchoring overnight allows you primetime fishing hours before any "day" excursions arrive.

How we start the day...

The captain begins the day at 5 a.m. and for those who choose to rise, the onboard 110-volt inverter system allows us to make coffee and breakfast in a quiet atmosphere while we prepare for the day ahead.

Other on-board ammenities include 4 forward berths with privacy to change your clothes. A bathroom with an electric head (ship's toilet), sink and shower facilities and a large skylight to provide fresh air on warm evenings. The electrical inverter system also accomodates a microwave oven, coffee pot, toaster, computer or any personal devices that require recharging.

In the evening, the captain will anchor on-site in a protected cove. Our advantage of anchoring overnight allows you primetime fishing hours before "day" excursions.
